It's OK not to feel OK. It's OK to feel worried, anxious, stressed, angry, alone, confused or happy. However you feel, it's normal. We are here to remind you to breathe and to check in when you need help. You are not alone. This is a space to use when you need a little bit more support to get back on track and ready to learn.
The SOP: HOW to use the Virtual Calming Room
FEEL. Notice how you feel in your body. Are you angry, sad, worried, stressed - all of the above? Just notice it and feel it. We all have feelings.
BREATHE. Take a deep breath in and out. Try this 3 times. This will help your body feel a little calmer and help you focus on what to do next.
TRY. There are so many ways to help yourself feel better when you are struggling with big emotions. In this calming room we've added lots of ideas for you to try. Try something new! These strategies are called coping skills. Coping skills are things that help us feel better.
ASK FOR HELP. If you are still struggling after trying some of these coping strategies in the calming room, that's OK! Please reach out for help. Ask your teacher or you can email your school counselor to check in and have a conversation.
